Jonathon Ryan
I am Head Materials Writer at Chasing Time English. I hold a PhD in applied linguistics, have published in a range of leading academic journals, and have over 20 years teaching experience.
Dr Jonathon Ryan (Jono) brings over 25 years’ experience as an English language teacher, Director of Studies, and Research Manager. He has taught in language schools in Ireland, Mexico, and New Zealand and for 12 years in the tertiary education sector in New Zealand.
Jono’s research has spanned a range of topics in applied linguistics and second language teaching, including pedagogy in listening and speaking pedagogy, EMI, and the use of film to develop pragmatic competence, and has been published in academic journals such as Language Learning, TESOL Quarterly, Language Teaching Research, IRAL, System, ELT Journal and Journal of Pragmatics. He is also a frequent contributor to the magazine Modern English Teacher.
